Information on the Dr. rer. biol. hum. degree:
Hannover Medical School awards the degree of Doctor: in Human Biology (Doctor rerum biologicarum humanarum, Dr. rer. biol. hum.) for scientific achievements in research areas within the subjects it represents.

Start of the dissertation: The doctorate should only be started after the accepted dissertation notification (doctoral degree regulations §4).
Supervision: The dissertation must be supervised by a faculty member employed at the MHH (internal faculty) (first supervision). In addition, a second supervision by a member of the teaching staff in another Department of the MHH is required (§5, para. 1). In justified exceptional cases, the second supervision may be provided by a faculty member from another university. The Department in which the dissertation is located is responsible for reimbursing travel expenses incurred in the course of external supervision.
Curricular achievements according to §6, para. 2, para. 4: The curricular achievements, project presentations and supervision meetings to be completed will only be credited if they have taken place after acceptance of the dissertation notification by the doctoral committee. For a doctorate with optimal planning, at least 2 years should be estimated.
