Dear visitor, dear visitor,

We would like to welcome you to the Department of Clinical Psychology and Sexual Medicine and are pleased to present our main areas of work and research as well as our therapeutic services on our homepage.

The Department of Clinical Psychology and Sexual Medicine is part of the Clinical Department of Psychiatry, Social- and Psychological Therapy in the Center for Mental Health at Hannover Medical School. In contrast to psychiatry and psychosomatics as departments of medicine, clinical psychology is a branch of psychology that deals with the development and treatment of mental problems and disorders. The scientific methods and therapeutic procedures developed in clinical psychology, such as behavioral therapy, which is referred to as behavioral medicine when applied to physical illnesses, complement and expand the spectrum of psychological medicine.

The psychologists and physicians working in the Clinical Psychology and Sexual Medicine department perform a wide range of tasks, both within the framework of the work processes of the Clinical Department and in special services and projects. The term 'sexual medicine' in the name of our Facilities or Institutions expresses the fact that the most important focus of therapy and research for many years has been in the field of sexual disorders and partnership problems.

You will find all the important information on this focus as well as on the other fields of activity and services offered by the department on the following pages. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your interest!
