Trauma Network Hannover Region

At the suggestion of the DGU's AKUT working group, trauma networks have been and are being established throughout Germany as independent structures to improve the care of seriously injured patients. Among other things, they are intended to facilitate faster Communications and, for example, transfers and more active exchange.

We are particularly proud to be one of the first regions in Germany to set up a trauma network. The first information events in March 2007, which attracted overwhelming interest from all over Lower Saxony and neighboring regions, also highlighted the need for closer cooperation at regional level between the Clinical Departments and emergency services involved in the care of seriously injured patients. Intensive discussions showed that local and regional issues in particular need to be addressed in key areas of the organization and logistics of care for the injured. Accordingly, several Lower Saxony trauma networks with a regional focus were and are being established. The trauma network in the Hannover region was certified by the DGU in July 2009, fulfilling all the necessary requirements.

On November 3, 2011, nine Clinical Departments of the Hannover Trauma Network were awarded the corresponding certificates.

However, the Hannover Region Trauma Network has a special status in that it is managed in partnership by two supra-regional maximum care trauma centers. We see ourselves as pacemakers in the further development of networking and cooperation within the Hannover Region Trauma Network, but also as a supra-regional point of contact for neighboring networks and institutions due to our outstanding infrastructure and in-depth specialist expertise.
