Diagnostics for prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in men. Around one in four men will develop this cancer in the course of his life. With early diagnosis and treatment, a cure is possible in around 80% of cases. The determination of the PSA value in serum, the digital rectal examination (DRU) and the transrectal ultrasound of the prostate (TRUS) are now part of the routine preventive examinations for men aged > 50 years. If an elevated PSA value or suspicious palpation findings indicate the possible presence of prostate cancer, a prostate biopsy is usually indicated after the patient has been thoroughly informed.

Our Clinical Department offers new, innovative diagnostic options that achieve a very good and more accurate assessment of prostate cancer - especially during rebiopsy.
