Our system technology

With the central data center/datacluster, MHH has innovative and state-of-the-art information technology at its disposal. Application procedures are made available at over 10,000 workstations via a campus-wide data network. The need for high-performance computing power and additional storage capacity is growing with the expansion of digital analysis methods, e.g. through the use of gene sequencers or as part of computationally intensive research projects. Modern storage technologies and a cluster for high-performance computing are available for this purpose.

A high degree of virtualization ensures efficient utilization of the systems and a high degree of flexibility and security. The central server landscape has already been largely virtualized, and the virtualization of networks and workstation systems will become more important in the future. By making IT workstations more flexible, modern forms of work such as office sharing/home office can make better use of the available space resources.

The security of IT systems and data at MHH is ensured by implementing organizational and technical measures. Access to data and systems is protected by established authorization and access concepts and only authorized persons are granted access to data, systems and information. Confidentiality, integrity and availability are consistently pursued as protection goals in the context of Information Security. A comprehensive information security concept is established with the aim of certification in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001.
