Removable dentures are required when there are no longer enough natural teeth to provide a fixed restoration with crowns and bridges. The partial dentures then required can be anchored in different ways:

The simplest option for prosthetic restoration in the partially edentulous jaw is the so-called model cast prosthesis, which is anchored to the teeth using cast clasps. In many cases, this is the so-called standard treatment to which the fixed allowance of the statutory health insurance is oriented. A more aesthetically pleasing and stable-fitting prosthesis is possible with telescopic crowns. The telescopic prosthesis also offers the advantage that it can be easily extended if additional teeth are lost, making it a long-term solution. It is also possible to combine anchoring the telescopic prosthesis on natural teeth and implants to improve the retention of the prosthesis.

The standard treatment for the completely edentulous jaw is the complete denture. Depending on the individual situation, additional anchoring of the prosthesis via implants is also possible here. Different anchoring methods can be used, e.g. via locators or ball heads, which function in a similar way to a push button. The prosthesis can also be stabilized on the implants using a bar or telescopic crowns.

In any case, special emphasis is placed on the correct design of the bite position when planning and fabricating a removable denture. Once the dentures have been fitted, we also recommend regular check-ups in combination with professional teeth cleaning to ensure that the dentures remain functional in the long term.
