After completing her training as a physiotherapist, Iris Winkelmann studied Human Medicine at Hannover Medical School from 2001 to 2008. She then completed her further training as a specialist in anaesthesiology from 2009 to 2015 at the Clinical Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Hannover Medical School. In 2017, she began her two-year lateral entry into general medicine at a GP practice in the Hanover region. In 2019, Ms Winkelmann received a teaching assignment to teach students in the compulsory general medicine course at the Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine at MHH and has been employed there as a specialist in general medicine since 2025. Since 2020, she has been a deputy member of the Examination Board for the training occupation of "medical assistant".Iris Winkelmann holds the additional qualification in Emergency Medicine and has been actively working as an emergency physician in several districts since 2013.
