Melanie Brinkmann has been a research associate at the Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine since March 2023 and is working on the two projects "General practitioners' role in follow-up care for kidney transplant patients(Galileo-KTx)" and "Care of patients with post-COVID: analyses of health insurance data and perspectives of patients, relatives and GPs(VePoKaP)".

After training as a physiotherapist, Melanie Brinkmann studied physiotherapy (B.Sc.) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim from 2012 to 2014 and management and quality development in healthcare (M.Sc.) at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin from 2015 to 2017. Melanie Brinkmann worked as a physiotherapist between 2012 and 2017, worked as a research associate in the field of therapy sciences at Trier University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 2017 to 2019 and was a research associate at the Institute of Epidemiology, Social Medicine and Public Health Research at Hannover Medical School (MHH) from 2019 to 2023. In August 2023, Melanie Brinkmann completed her doctorate on the topic of "Preferences of people with statutory health insurance for colorectal cancer screening: a discrete choice experiment".
