STATAMED

Transformation of the patient pathway through a cross-sector, short-stay, general medicine-oriented care model

Aims

The aim of STATAMED is to establish a new cross-sector, short-stay, general medicine-oriented form of care in the healthcare system. This should benefit patients with (sub-)acute complaints who require medical treatment without having to be transported to the emergency room.

The short inpatient general medical stay is intended to protect patients from over- and misuse, reduce the number and duration of hospital stays and the use of emergency care.

STATAMED is initially being tested at 6 locations in Hamburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Detailed information can be found on the central project homepage of the AOK Rheinland/Hamburg, which is in charge of the project: https://www.aok.de/gp/statamed

As a consortium partner, our Institute is responsible for the qualitative process evaluation.

Evaluation

The effectiveness of STATAMED is being examined in several sub-studies at population and organizational level. Various consortium partners are involved in this.

We carry out a qualitative process evaluation in order to

  • examine the acceptance of the stakeholders involved (e.g. providers and patients) and the population
  • identify influences on the feasibility of STATAMED
  • examine the extent to which the work processes at the locations change.

Funding

This project is funded by the G-BA Innovation Fund (funding code: 01NVF22103). The project duration is 45 months (01.07.2023 to 31.03.2027).
