It was like a Beatles song at the MHH Alumni e.V. graduation ceremony for Human medicine on June 29, 2019. Over 80 graduates were bid farewell in lecture hall F, but a newcomer was also welcomed: EM!L, the alumni award for innovative teaching, celebrated its premiere.

Lecture hall F was fuller than ever on this sunny Saturday, and additional chairs had to be set up to accommodate the more than 470 guests. However, this did not dampen the celebratory mood, on the contrary - the newly graduated physicians and their families and friends came to their last day at the MHH in high spirits, in festive dresses and smart suits, to celebrate in style.

Professor Siegfried Piepenbrock, Chairman of MHH-Alumni e.V., Dr. Martina Wenker, President of the Lower Saxony Medical Association, and Dean of Studies Professor Ingo Just paid tribute to the students' achievements in their welcoming speeches and offered their best wishes. MHH President Professor Michael P. Manns entertained the audience with Rhenish charm as he presented the certificates, but the oratorical highlight of the day was undoubtedly provided by the two graduates Katrin Koch and Charlotte Baumgärtel, who took those present on a journey through their years at the MHH with a feeling for language, wordplay and acting talent, earning many bursts of laughter and even more applause.

There was also applause for the five winners of the first EM! This teaching prize from MHH-Alumni e.V., which will be awarded annually in future, went to the eFAST team in 2019, who developed a particularly efficient combination of eLearning and simulation-based classroom sessions to teach all fourth-year students the technique of eFAST emergency sonography for the first time.

The event was rounded off with music by medical student Jan-Marc Bleck, who melted hearts in the best singer-songwriter style and sent the guests off into the rest of the evening swaying rhythmically.
