Hygienic remediation

The intensive use of the available husbandry capacities and simultaneous use by several working groups increases the risk of the occurrence of undesirable infections and diseases. In addition, the generation of many new strains has led to breeding nuclei being exchanged worldwide. Unfortunately, the animals do not always come from herds that are carefully monitored in terms of hygiene. In such cases, hygienic sanitation is required in order to transfer the animals to a status that meets the ZTL standard and allows them to be imported.

The following methods of sanitation are available as a service:

  • Transfer of freshly obtained, thawed cryopreserved embryos or embryos generated by in-vitro fertilization to hygienically defined dams in mice and rats
  • Caesarean section with subsequent nurse rearing in mice and rats to generate germ-free animals or animals with defined flora.
