Genetics

At the ZTL, different mouse and rat inbred strains are bred for the MHH research groups. Genetic Diagnostics is responsible for the genetic authenticity of these strains. In addition, Genetic Diagnostics offers the MHH working groups various test procedures to analyze the genetic background of imported mice and rats as well as in experimental breeding and to check the genotypes of certain loci.
Genetic Diagnostics supports and advises the research groups in the selection of marker systems for genotyping and breeding strategies, taking into account the Animal Welfare Act and the Genetic Engineering Act.

  • Authenticity control of the genetic background:
microsatellite markers (SSLP), single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)
  • Genotype control of individual mutations:
Allele-specific oligonucleotides (ASOs), microsatellites (SSLP), single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), sequencing, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs),
  • Consultations take place by appointment.
