Bankstahl working group
In Experimental Surgery, scientific questions from all areas of surgery (e.g. cardiac, thoracic, transplantation and vascular surgery, orthopaedics, traumatology, urology, visceral surgery) but also from anatomy or immunology are primarily investigated using large animal models such as pigs or sheep.
However, sophisticated surgical research is only possible if the perioperative care of the animals in the context of anesthesia, intensive care and pain therapy also meets high international standards.
