Information on the day clinic
The Day Clinic Center is a day-care facility or Institutions with therapy hours from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:00. It treats people in life crises (adjustment disorders), with depression and anxiety disorders, personality disorders or psychoses, as well as patients with a dependency disorder.
The nursing team consists of full-time or part-time registered nurses. Each member of the nursing team is qualified to work co/therapeutically with clients through further training and additional training. As your reference person, we work closely with the treating physicians, occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists.
As a professional group, we are in a continuous process of further development in order to guarantee optimal care for our patients in accordance with the latest scientific nursing findings.
Our work is based on the nursing guidelines, the MHH mission statement and the MHH nursing concept.
Relationship building and care are two important building blocks on the way to successful therapy. Our nursing care in the day clinic takes the form of reference care. This means that we, as reference therapists, act as a point of contact for you with regard to problems, planning therapy steps and setting goals during therapy. As reference therapists, we work closely with the attending physician and provide co-therapeutic support.
For us, co-therapeutic work with you includes, among other things
- Determining therapy goals
- Advice and support for relatives
- Joint and individual weekly planning
- Restoring the daily structure
- Support in crisis situations
- Teaching relaxation techniques (e.g. progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobsen or imaginative relaxation, weekly 45-minute sessions, aim: to get to know methods that help to process feelings and gain inner strength
- Promoting creativity
- Movement therapies
- Games group
- Morning and closing rounds
- Interaction group (weekly á 90 min, focus: experiencing and shaping relationships with other people, goal: understanding which feelings, sensations and thoughts influence one's own behavior in encounters with other people)
- Social skills training (weekly 90-minute sessions, focus: training in practical everyday situations, learning communication styles, exercises in the form of role-playing to deal with unpleasant situations)
- Resource group (weekly, 90 min, focus: relieving stress by changing the perspective on a problem, reinterpreting problems and recognizing and appreciating one's own strengths, goal: using strengths and arriving at a new and more constructive view of problems)
- Mindfulness exercises

Checklist for admission:
- Health insurance card and exemption card if applicable
- Referral form for treatment in the psychiatric day clinic
- If possible, medical notes from the referring physician
- Contact details of the next of kin
- Contact details of your legal guardian (if available)
- current medication list
- If necessary, personal aids (glasses, medication required for the first day, etc.)
A therapy plan tailored to your needs will be drawn up with you on the day of admission.
Drinks (coffee, tea and mineral water) are available to you for the entire duration of your therapy. For lunch, there is a choice of different dishes with dessert and/or different salads every day.
You have the option of using a locker for your valuables. However, we recommend that you only carry small amounts of cash with you. MHH is not liable for any losses.
Meetings with relatives can be planned and carried out at your request and after consultation with the therapist in charge.
The duration of your inpatient stay will be agreed individually. It is usually eight to twelve weeks.

- When should the next medical check-up take place?
- Have the necessary patient ID cards been issued or updated?
- Do I need a certificate of residence for my employer / the authorities?
- Have I received back any documents I brought with me?
- How has follow-up care been arranged?
- Is the continued supply of medication guaranteed?
- Do you have a certificate for your travel expenses?
Your health insurance company will reimburse you for travelcosts on public transport after your treatment has been completed. Please keep your tickets.
The day clinic is located at Podbielskistraße 160 A (Pelikanstraße stop) in 30177 Hannover.
You can reach us from the main railroad station by taking tram lines 3, 7 and 9.
