As one of the largest oncological nursing training courses in northern Germany, the Day of Oncological Nursing took place once again on February 6, 2021 at Hannover Medical School under the motto "For each other - With each other - From each other". The training event was primarily aimed at healthcare and (pediatric) nurses and medical professionals working in oncology.

A total of 324 participants registered for the online event. Thanks to the digital focus, interested professionals from all over Germany were able to take part. The organization team is satisfied: "We are thrilled that so many people were interested in the program. This shows how important oncological Nursing is in practice," says Klaus Meier, Head of Oncology. "This year's digital Oncology Nursing Day at the MHH was a complete success. Even under the current special conditions, we were able to involve the participants well via the chat functions. We received numerous questions about the presentations, which the speakers answered live. This allowed us to have a good exchange with the audience," says Juliane Hesse, Head of Oncology.

A varied program awaited the participants. Renowned speakers gave talks on the topics of "Successful surgery but still cancer. Crisis management in surgery" and "In the shadows - how children and young people experience their siblings' illness and what they need". A further block of topics dealt with questions about palliative care. At the end, the organization team came up with something special. Together with Andreas Bentrup, actor, theater educator, clown and humor trainer, the topic of "Humor in Nursing" was addressed.

Between the presentations, statement videos by Nursing and medical staff bridged the breaks. The next Oncology Nursing Day is planned for February 2023.
