Welcome to the Institute of Cell Biochemistry!
The Institute of Cell Biochemistry (until 2016 Institute of Physiological Chemistry) has existed since the MHH was founded in 1965 and has been prominently involved in medical training since the beginning of medical training in 1965/66 and biochemistry training in 1970/71. Since Prof. Dr. Matthias Gaestel (2001, retired since 10.2025) took up his post, the Institute's research focus has been on signal transduction within eukaryotic cells. We are particularly interested in the underlying molecular mechanisms and the therapeutic relevance of these processes.
