Tamura working group

Welcome to the Tamura working group!

In our group we investigate the molecular function of the transcription/export complex (TREX) in mRNA processing in vitro and in vivo. We use a broad spectrum of techniques ranging from basic biochemical, molecular and cell biological methods to third-generation sequencing and systems biology approaches. The fact that five members of TREX are often highly expressed in cancer cells also suggests that some of the TREX-dependent mRNAs are involved in the development and progression of cancer. In this regard, we are particularly interested in certain long non-coding RNAs, which we have recently shown to be translated into small peptides and support carcinogenesis.
