Welcome to the Windheim working group!
In our research group, we investigate the activation of the immune response and its suppression by viral proteins. On the one hand, we try to understand which molecular processes the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1 induces in cells and how these are regulated. On the other hand, we are analyzing which strategies adenoviruses use to switch off the immune system and enable their own reproduction and spread.
