Study of dentistry

(Copyright: Hans&Jung, Hannover)

The dentistry course at Hannover Medical School comprises ten semesters and is based on the latest scientific knowledge and is practice- and patient-oriented. During the first few semesters of the pre-clinical course, students are taught various basics of medicine. At the same time, the Clinical Department of Dental Prosthetics and Biomedical Materials teaches the basic knowledge of dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine and introduces the basics of the subject in dental propaedeutics courses. Dental treatments are simulated on models and patient phantoms and dental technical work is carried out. Dental materials science is also taught using modern digital technologies. In the clinical part of the course, students treat patients in the dental prosthetics course and in the interdisciplinary integrated course, providing them with various types of fixed and removable dentures. The treatment of CMD patients is also taught.
