"Every seriously ill and dying person has a legal right to be treated and cared for according to the generally recognized state of knowledge. In order to achieve this goal, new findings on palliative care from research and practice are continuously being gained, made transparent and implemented in everyday care. We will work to further develop interdisciplinary research on this basis and ensure the transfer of knowledge into practice in order to continuously improve the care situation of seriously ill and dying people as well as their relatives and loved ones."

From the Charter for the Care of the Critically Ill and Dying in Germany (Guiding Principle 4)

Palliative research at the MHH is committed to this guiding principle. In addition to individual projects and initiatives in various Clinical Departments and Institutes, palliative research has a nationally and internationally recognized focus in the Institute of General Medicine at the MHH.
