Praise for commitment and campus life at the MHH
On July 1, the MHH-Alumni e.V. bid farewell to the graduates of Human medicine. Over 360 guests gathered for the graduation ceremony in Lecture Hall F at Hannover Medical School.
The focus of studies at Hannover Medical School is, of course, on imparting medical knowledge and preparing students for the medical profession. However, what happens alongside lectures, internships and exercises is almost as important for the students. "If I had to pick out one thing that made studying here at the MHH so special for me, it would definitely be the campus life," said graduate Annika Kreitlow in her graduation speech. "Whether it was looking after the first semester students, in the teddy bear hospital or in the university's political work - there was an opportunity for everyone here at the MHH to get involved, help shape things and get involved."
The graduates also showed their commitment to the musical organization of the ceremony. New graduate Carla Schulze got things off to a lively start with the band Emma H.Art and Friends and the Earth, Wind & Fire hit "September". Jan-Marc Bleck, who had already completed his medical studies in 2021, delighted the audience with his song "Ich weiß, dass ich nichts weiß" (I know that I don't know anything) and at the end, everyone performed together on stage once again.
Prof. Dr. Michael P. Manns, President of MHH, Prof. Dr. Ingo Just, Dean of Studies, and Dr. med. Marion Charlotte Renneberg, Vice President of the Medical Association of Lower Saxony, gave their welcoming addresses in a visibly good-humored manner. The presentation of this year's EM!L, the alumni award for innovative teaching, also benefited from the atmospheric setting. Professor Sandra Steffens received the award for the development of the digital organization tool UAPP, which allows students to be called in promptly for interesting examination and treatment situations that often arise spontaneously in everyday clinical practice. The presentation of the examination certificates by the President and the presentation of the obligatory examination roses by Prof. Dr. Siegfried Piepenbrock, Chairman of MHH-Alumni e.V., rounded off the program.
After the champagne reception, at which the young physicians' relief at the end of the learning and examination marathon was clearly noticeable, they disappeared in all directions - hopefully to remember Annika Kreitlow's final words again and again in the coming weeks, months and years: "I hope that we take one thing with us from this great time at this university: That we don't stop interfering, getting involved, organizing ourselves and helping to shape the structures into which we will now grow."
