In beautiful summer weather, around 400 guests accepted the invitation to the graduation ceremony in Lecture Hall F at Hannover Medical School on June 28, 2025. In the best of moods, in festive dresses and smart suits, the newly graduated physicians appeared with friends and family for their last day at MHH to celebrate in style. First, Alumni Chairman Prof. Dr. Ingo Just welcomed the guests and congratulated the "new colleagues" on passing their exams. He also awarded this year's EM!L, the alumni prize for innovative teaching, to Sina Golon. The intensive care and anesthesia nurse is part of the SkillsLab team at the MHH, where she developed the interprofessional teaching concept FIRSTMED, which teaches medical students emergency medicine skills in a practical way.

In his welcoming address, Dean of Studies Prof. Dr. Christian Mühlfeld offered both cheerful and thoughtful words and concluded with a book recommendation: the Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe had already recognized the importance of work-life balance in the 1920s and had some good thoughts to share, especially for the early years of a career. Dr. Marion Renneberg, Vice President of the Lower Saxony Medical Association and herself an MHH alumna, drummed up support for the "most beautiful profession in the world" and emphasized once again that young physicians are desperately sought after everywhere, whether in large Clinical Departments or small practices.

Afterwards, the two graduates Benedikt Große-Scharmann and Daniel Gussarow delivered one of the funniest graduation speeches in the history of the graduation ceremony under the motto "Premieres, bloopers and perspectives". They mixed re-registrations from their fellow students with their own personal anecdotes and recalled "times during their studies when it wasn't just nerves on the dissecting table that were on edge." Then it was time to present the certificates. President Professor Denise Hilfiker-Kleiner called the graduates to the stage one by one and congratulated each of them personally together with Professor Just.

The three medical students Cigdem Housein-Oglou, Banu Tahir-Mustafa and Ruben Lorenz provided the musical backdrop for the event, delighting the guests with songs such as "Skyfall" by Adele and "Valerie" by Amy Weinhouse. They impressed with their strong voices and skillful piano playing. The afternoon came to an exuberant and cheerful end with champagne and finger food - certainly not the worst way to spend your last day at the MHH.
