On the path to university excellence

As part of the second funding period from 2027 to 2033, MHH has applied for University of Excellence status with its INSPIREfutureHealth concept.

INSPIREfutureHealth:

Our vision of the medicine of the future

We are shaping a new model of healthcare that combines research, education, and patient care in an agile health ecosystem. Guided by the P4 concept, we are setting new standards in prevention, prediction, precision medicine, and participation:

Prevention

Maintaining health and avoiding complications

We support people at all stages of life - from birth to old age. At the MHH, our focus is on serious and life-threatening diseases, such as organ transplants, implants, serious infections or multiple organ failure. Accordingly, we concentrate our prevention efforts on avoiding the consequences of illness and complications, such as organ rejection, implant-associated infections or cognitive impairment. At the same time, we strengthen primary prevention through programs to promote exercise and health throughout all stages of life.

Prediction

Detecting diseases early

We combine clinical experience, modern digital infrastructure and scientific excellence to better predict disease progression. Based on our expertise in biomarkers, imaging, sensor technology and monitoring systems, we develop instruments that detect health risks, disease outbreaks and therapy response at an early stage - from infections and organ failure to complex transplantation and implantation processes. In this way, we create the basis for timely and targeted medical decisions.

Precision

Medicine tailored to people

For us, precision medicine means more than individually tailored therapies. We personalize medicine both at the level of individual patients and for entire population groups. By identifying common molecular, clinical or lifestyle-related characteristics, we can tailor therapies specifically and make them scalable at the same time. In this way, we increase their effectiveness - particularly in the areas of transplantation, implant technology and infectious medicine.

Participation

Shaping health together

We see health as a joint task. That is why we actively involve patients, students, employees and society in our work. The digital transformation opens up new opportunities for dialog, co-design and joint decision-making. Our goal is to empower people to actively participate in healthcare - from therapy decisions to the evaluation of treatment outcomes.

In line with these guidelines, we have applied for the status of a University of Excellence under the INSPIREfutureHealth concept as part of the second funding period 2027-2033. The Universities of Excellence funding line has the task of strengthening individual universities or alliances in the long term in order to increase their international appeal.
