Teaching and Learning Research Section

The Teaching and Learning Research Group of the Clinical Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the MHH is concerned with the development of training and continuing education concepts for all activities in anesthesia, emergency and intensive care medicine. The aim is to learn as much practical knowledge as possible in the courses with as little effort as possible and to maintain application competence for a long time.

Our work steps consist of

  • Determining the necessary learning content
  • implementation of a training and further training concept and the
  • subsequent evaluation

In order to achieve these goals, we want to repeatedly get in touch with the people who apply the medical activities in practice on a daily basis. Practicability and practical relevance are the focus of our work.

Emergency and Disaster Medicine Section

The aims of the Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medicine Section are to improve emergency medicine practice through the further development of teaching and algorithms.
The focus is on...

  • the design and optimization of learning and teaching concepts in the field of preclinical and clinical Emergency Medicine
  • the establishment of virtual reality (VR) environments for training and further education in Emergency Medicine
  • the further development of high-performance simulations
  • Investigating control centre and operational data to optimize emergency alerts and the deployment of rescue equipment
  • the development of decision-making aids in the rescue service and preclinical scores
  • Simulation and evaluation of triage models in MANV and disaster scenarios

To this end, we use a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Particular emphasis is placed on good scientific practice.
In addition to their clinical and preclinical activities, the members of the Section of Emergency Medicine participate in numerous acute and emergency medicine teaching formats within the MHH, specially adapted for students, staff or external parties.

Cooperations

  • Our working group maintains numerous collaborations and contacts with internal working groups and other departments at MHH.
  • We also work closely with the Johanniter Academy of Lower Saxony/Bremen, the German Red Cross in Uelzen and the Akkon University of Applied Sciences. We work closely and trustfully with Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Psych. Vera Hagemann(Department of Human Resources at the University of Bremen) on several simulation projects. We would like to thank all our partners for their excellent cooperation.
  • The Section for Emergency and Disaster Medicine cooperates closely with the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) and Prof. Dr. med. Axel R. Heller from Augburg University Hospital.
