Anesthesia in plastic, aesthetic, hand and reconstructive surgery
In the four operating theaters of PÄHW Surgery, we treat around 2,000 patients a year, from infants to the elderly.
The spectrum of operations ranges from minor hand surgery to extensive cosmetic surgery, distant flap plastic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery through to severe burns that require complex, differentiated and intensive medical treatment. This is possible in a special operating theater in which the room temperature is heated to 38° C with 40% humidity.
The same temperatures also prevail in the admission room of the intensive care unit for severely burned patients, where we work together with our surgical colleagues to care for severely burned patients with all our anesthesiological expertise.
All modern forms of airway management such as laryngeal mask (with drainage channel), cricoid puncture & compressed air ventilation, optical laryngoscope and endoscopically controlled intubation are used.
Suitable patients are provided with pain catheters. Individual pain therapy to reduce post-operative pain is a special concern. This naturally also includes regional anesthesia procedures including local anesthetic wound infiltrations.
To ensure that our patients receive optimal care after the operation, we place great importance on close cooperation with our acute pain service.
