The diving fitness test is the "entry ticket" for every diver to the enchanting underwater world, which provides incomparable experiences far away from everyday life. With our examination according to the guidelines of the Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (GTÜM e.V.), we ensure that you can practice your favorite sport with a good feeling of safety.
We (ourselves enthusiastic divers) look forward to seeing you and guarantee you a medical fitness examination carried out according to the current state of knowledge of diving medicine.
What can you expect during the diving fitness examination?
You will first receive a health questionnaire and will then be questioned in a personal interview. To shorten your waiting time, you can print out and complete this questionnaire here and now.

This is followed by a thorough physical examination (including a check of the ears, especially the eardrums) with determination of the lung function parameters and an ECG.
A bicycle ergometry (stress test) is indicated for certain illnesses and for divers over 40 years of age.
An X-ray of the chest is no longer necessary today, but is required for certain pre-existing conditions, particularly of the lungs. If you have a lung x-ray (not older than 5 years), please bring this with you to your examination appointment.
After the examination, you will be informed of your results immediately in a detailed final discussion and in an automatically generated report. If you are fit to dive, you will receive an internationally recognized certificate of fitness according to GTÜM e.V..
The examination usually takes about 45 minutes.

HERE (pdf) you will find directions. To avoid getting lost in the MHH, we recommend entering the Clinical Department through the main entrance and following the directions.
We are not a pure diving outpatient clinic - all examiners for diving fitness examinations work in the Clinical Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. The diving fitness examinations only take place outside our regular working hours in the operating theater or in the intensive care unit. Please enquire about available examination dates by emailing tauchersprechstunde@mh-hannover.de.
From now on, we can also offer diving fitness examinations for children from the age of 8 in our diving consultation hours. In order to get an overview of the child's health and performance status and to provide parents with information about diving for children, we offer the following questionnaire and an information letter in cooperation with the Society for Pediatric Sports Medicine.
