Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common diseases worldwide and many of these diseases cannot yet be cured. On the other hand, the heart is the first functional organ during embryonic development and is created in a complex process that is not well understood. Human pluripotent stem cells could be a key to both: healing "broken hearts" as well as clarifying the poorly understood mechanisms of heart development. In this lecture, PD. Dr. Zweigerdt, group leader at the HTTG/ LEBAO, will shed light on both aspects.

PD Dr. Martin Klietz (MHH Clinical Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology) presents the research project and explains how the sleep disorder is diagnosed and what treatment options are available in this first stage of Parkinson's disease.

Frank Dressler (Head of Pediatric Rheumatology at the MHH) shows the complexity of the diagnosis, presents current treatment options and explains how you can protect yourself and your children.

Event series "MHH im Gespräch" by MHH-Alumni e.V.
Lecture hall H, level H0, building J1 of the MHH or
Livestream, access via www.mhh.de/alumni
Statistically speaking, one in five people is affected by depression at some point in their lives. While the symptoms are always similar, the underlying illnesses can vary greatly. Until now, however, there has been a lack of diagnostic tools for a reliable diagnosis and so the most promising methods are currently being tried out one after the other until the treatment works. A research project at the Clinical Department of Psychiatry, Social- and Psychological Therapy aims to change this in the future. Prof. Dr. Helge Frieling, head of the project, explains how biomarkers can be used to determine which therapy is best for whom right at the start of treatment as part of the MHH Alumni e.V. event series "The MHH in Conversation". // CME points applied for

With increasing age, bone formation no longer occurs as quickly as bone resorption, bone mass and bone density decline. If this process accelerates, it is called osteoporosis (bone loss). Without treatment, there is a risk of complicated bone fractures, which may even be fatal due to secondary diseases. In an interview with his predecessor Professor Christian Krettek, Professor Stephan Sehmisch, Head of the Clinical Department of Trauma Surgery at the MHH, explains why, from a certain age, the health risk of osteoporosis even exceeds the risk of cancer and how it can be prevented. // 2 CME points from äkn
