ENT teaching has been completely restructured as part of the Hannover Medical School's model degree program. The focus is on small group teaching, patient-oriented work and the use of electronic media. Student teaching consists of two separate modules. The first block covers diagnostic methods, in particular the ENT mirror examination. A theoretical introduction is followed by a demonstration of a newly developed film, which demonstrates the most important practical exercises. The practical lessons take place in small groups with the opportunity for self-examination.
The ENT seminar covers the entire pathology of the specialty. A one-hour lecture is followed by the development of special topics with subsequent patient demonstrations. At the end of the day, there is the opportunity to use electronic media as part of e-learning for follow-up work. The module ends with a practical day. Freely selectable areas of responsibility (outpatient clinic, ENT surgery, wards) are available. The general desire for patient-oriented teaching has been met with the reform.
The ENT module takes place in the fourth year of study. All important information can be found in the ENT curriculum.
Further information on further training in ENT medicine can be found on the website of the North German ENT Society, of which we are a member.
