Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS)

The use of antibiotics plays a significant role in the prevention of multi-resistant pathogens and nosocomial infections. Antibiotic stewardship programs should adapt generally applicable principles for diagnostics and antibiotic therapy to the local situation and ensure the rational use of antibiotics in the treatment of infectious diseases. The aim is to ensure the best possible clinical treatment outcome, taking into account the risks of resistance development and minimizing adverse drug reactions.
