The Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene is also involved in the Master's degree program in Biomedicine at Hannover Medical School. Internships and Master's theses are offered.
The lectures are part of the compulsory elective module Microbiology of the Master's degree program Biomedicine (part of the HBRS study programmes). Information about the module lectures and the biomedicine curriculum: Dr. Melina Celik, MHH. The lecture usually takes place during the summer semester on Tuesdays from 8.15 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. in the HBRS seminar room, building I4.
The compulsory elective internship is part of the compulsory elective module Microbiology and is usually held as a one-week full-day internship for advanced students at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene of the MHH (coordination: Prof. Dr. Guntram Graßl). Part of the compulsory elective module is also a series of seminars (title: Microbiology/current topics and methods of molecular infection research on pathogenic bacteria). Prerequisite for participation in the compulsory elective practical course is participation in the compulsory elective module Microbiology (lectures).

Award criteria:
For students on the Master's degree course in Biomedicine, normally from the 3rd semester onwards. Duration: 6 weeks, full-time. Collaboration on scientific projects in individual supervision. The internship takes place in the respective working groups of the Institute by individual arrangement. It is recommended to contact the respective working group leaders personally to discuss the time and content of the internship; a lead time of at least 3 months before the start of the internship is recommended (coordination: Prof. Dr. Guntram Graßl).
Award criteria:
For students who have completed their regular coursework (normally 4th semester). It is recommended to contact the respective working group leaders personally to discuss the timing (at least 6 months in advance is recommended) and content of the Master's thesis; a laboratory internship of several weeks in one of the Institute's working groups during the course of studies is desired or is normally required.
