Compulsory elective module: Microbial pathogens

The module teaches the basics of viral and bacterial infections as well as commensal and pathobiological colonization by bacteria. The focus of this module is on pathogenicity mechanisms in the host, the resulting clinical pictures as well as microbial diagnostics and modes of action of antiviral/antibacterial therapies. In addition, various aspects of systems biology and data analysis are included.

Lecture: Tuesday 8:15 - 9:45 h (online via MS Teams)
Internship: 1-week internship together with Biomedicine and Biochemistry
Seminar: Multi-part seminar including case studies in data analysis

Students interested in writing a Master's thesis are advised to contact the respective working group leaders personally to discuss the timing (at least 6 months in advance is recommended) and content of the Master's thesis.
