Professor Dr. Stephan Immenschuh

Prof. Immenschuh is attending for immunohematology and physician-scientist at the Institute of Transfusion Medicine and Transplant Engineering. He is a trained physician in transfusion and internal medicine with respective board certifications (Facharzt). His research deals with immunological questions in transplantation and transfusion medicine and an emphasis of his work is on the immunology of sterile inflammation. Current projects focus on the immune regulation of inflammatory macrophages and apply various clinical and basic scientific approaches. His work in transplant immunology addresses topics on the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system and its role in transplant rejection after solid organ transplantation.
