The compulsory part of the Master's degree program in Biochemistry is based on the research areas of the Institutes of the Centre for Biochemistry at the Medical School (MHH). This provides graduates with in-depth knowledge, particularly in signal transduction, biophysical chemistry, glycobiochemistry and pathobiochemistry.

In addition, there is an extensive range of compulsory electives that enable students to study biomedical subjects in particular (pharmacology, immunology, microbiology, etc.). In addition, the cooperation with Leibniz University (LUH) provides the opportunity to specialize in organic chemistry or biotechnology, active and natural product chemistry or biomineralization.

In the compulsory elective area, however, stays abroad, industrial placements or teaching placements can also be integrated.

In the elective area, further modules of the compulsory elective area, but also interdisciplinary courses can be taken (e.g. language courses or courses on soft skills).

After approval by the Examination Board, modules outside the MHH or LUH or Hannover can also be selected.
