Qualification objectives

The module deals with research data collection and Research Data Management in clinical research and biobanking. Students acquire basic and background knowledge on the planning and implementation of clinical studies and deal with the fundamental contexts of data collection and data management in clinical research and biobanking. They are familiar with various application scenarios, can assess them and illustrate them using practical examples.

Competencies

Lecture:

By imparting basic and background knowledge on the planning and implementation of clinical studies on humans, the use and storage of electronic health data in clinical research on humans and the quality-assured collection and storage of biomaterial collections and imparting methodological knowledge in the field of biobanking, graduates of this module are able to aspire to professional fields in biomedical/clinical research, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry.

Supervised online learning:

After working on specific case studies, students deepen their theoretical knowledge of biomedical and clinical research. Students will be able to independently plan and carry out the work steps required to conduct clinical studies and biomaterial collections. After completing the module, students will have a basic understanding of valid and quality-assured research data collection and the planning and implementation of clinical studies as well as biobanking and the handling and processing of research data.
