Nephrological sonography

Our sonography department places particular emphasis and focus on the assessment of the kidneys and renal arteries. With a high-end ultrasound machine, we offer you modern Doppler modes, shear wave elastography and contrast medium ultrasound in addition to the usual examination methods.

 

Questions

  • Acute and chronic kidney diseases
  • Diagnosis / exclusion of renal artery stenosis
  • Clarification of renal cysts and masses
  • Assessment of dialysis shunts (course, shunt flow volume, atherosclerosis, stenoses, thromboses)
  • Assessment of PD catheters (position, tunnel infection)
  • Vascular mapping before planned placement of a dialysis shunt

 

Examination methods

  • B-scan sonography
  • Color, power, PW Doppler, ADF (Advanced Dynamic Flow), SMI modes (Superb Microvascular Imaging)
  • Elastography
  • CEUS (Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound)

 

Checklist for the ultrasound appointment

  • A current referral from a specialist in nephrology, cardiology or angiology at the time of the appointment
  • Your health card (health insurance card)
  • If available: Your medication plan
  • If available: Previous findings and the last physician's letter
  • If available: last CT/MRI on CD including written findings
  • If necessary: a transportation ticket for the outward and return journey

From the main entrance go straight to the end of the row of stores (node C), then turn right to the second elevator point (node F), there to the second floor, to the right of the elevator is the sonography.
