The special outpatient clinic deals with diseases of bone metabolism and mineral balance in renal insufficiency (CKD-MBD)
The special outpatient clinic for renal bone diseases cares for patients who have a proven kidney disease and suffer from problems of the skeletal system (e.g. bone fractures, bone pain) or disorders of the bone mineral balance.
Diseases/diagnostics/therapy
- especially osteoporosis, parathyroid diseases, calciphylaxis, adynamous bone metabolism, but also genetic bone diseases such as phosphate diabetes
- Bone fractures and pain
- Carrying out bone biopsies for the diagnosis of bone disease
- Clinical studies and research in the field of renal osteopathy
Checklist for the outpatient appointment
- A current referral from a renal specialist/nephrologist at the time of the appointment
- Your health card (health insurance card)
- If available: Your (federal) medication plan
- If available: Preliminary bone examinations, incl. bone density measurements and blood values (also including follow-up findings) and the last physician's letter
- If available: X-ray images of the bones / spine; scintigraphy findings (parathyroid gland) if applicable
- If available: Reports from the rheumatologist and orthopaedist
- If necessary: a transportation ticket for the outward and return journey
