Successful cost optimization through cross-clinic standardization of implant systems in the thoracic and lumbar spine area
The annual savings potential for the MHH in this area alone was over 100,000 euros, and in the area of bone implants a total of around 250,000 euros.
Following a test phase at the end of 2009, trauma surgeons and neurosurgeons in spinal surgery are now working with an identical state-of-the-art implant system. The planned savings have already been realized in the past year. But standardization has more than just financial benefits: "Shorter operating times and standardized surgical techniques clearly increase patient safety," says Prof. Dr. med. Joachim K. Krauss, Director of the Clinical Department of Neurosurgery, citing an additional advantage.
