Information on the functional area
Welcome to our website
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. These principles are our aspiration, orientation and obligation.
Our nursing team consists of full-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as practice supervisors, incontinence consultants and specialists in surgical and endoscopic care). We are also supported by two radiographers.
Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our surgical department, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
The focus of our nursing work is on the care and support of patients with urological problems such as bladder, prostate and renal cell carcinomas, bladder dysfunction and much more.
We accompany and support the medical staff during the following examinations and procedures:

Our tasks include the following
- Assisting and supporting the medical staff during surgery
- Training of trainees from the nursing school
- Preparation and aftercare of outpatients for urological procedures
- Information about the course of the surgical procedure
- Preparation/post-processing of instruments and equipment for urological endoscopic procedures for outpatients and inpatients
- Care and monitoring during and after the operation
- Care of emergency patients (e.g. colic, bleeding, urinary retention)
- Communications with relatives
The outpatient clinic is open from Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 16:00 and always on Fridays from 07:30 to 14:30.
After 4 p.m. and at weekends, care is provided by the urologist on duty and the nursing on-call service of our outpatient clinic.
- You enter the MHH through the Polikliniken entrance (building K05) and walk straight down the long corridor to the end.
- Take the elevator on the right-hand side down one floor to level S0.
- If you exit the elevator to the right, you will arrive in front of our urology outpatient clinic entrance.
Due to emergencies, there may be longer waiting times for patients at times. We are constantly striving to keep these waiting times short for our patients, but ask for your understanding for any delays.
It is important to know that the order of treatment depends on the severity of the illness or injury and on many complex, interdisciplinary factors, which we always endeavor to coordinate so that our patients receive high-quality care to their satisfaction.
