Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School.
Our Nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as specialist training in endoscopic and surgical nursing and practice supervisors) and surgical assistants (OTAs). We are part of an interdisciplinary team and work very closely with other departments and professional groups (e.g. orthodontics, prosthetics, dental technology, ENT, phoniatrics, neurosurgery).
Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources program. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our department, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee 24-hour care for our patients by working regular and intermediate shifts with a subsequent on-call service.
Our operating theater has 3 operating rooms, one of which is mainly outsourced for outpatient surgical procedures.
We protect our patients from any complications that can be attributed to technical or human carelessness.
Another important goal of our Nursing department is to contribute to efficient surgical procedures. Among other things, this means ensuring that all materials, equipment and instruments are available at all times for planned and emergency operations.
We are responsible for the safety of our patients so that they do not suffer any physical injury during their stay in the operating theater. To ensure this safety standard, we work according to quality guidelines that we have jointly developed and which are an important prerequisite for providing optimal Nursing and treatment.
Our surgical department is subject to a quality management system to ensure optimal patient care. Interdisciplinary standards and guidelines have been drawn up. Since 2006, our department has been successfully audited annually both internally and externally in accordance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001.
Highly technical equipment and modern osteosynthesis materials present us with the task of continuing to develop our skills and knowledge in dealing with them. Due to the varied, interesting and diverse activities, the day-to-day work of a surgical nurse is experienced anew every day and is what makes our department so special.
Trained practice instructors and mentors guide new employees, OTA trainees and trainees in health and nursing care and specialize in the profession and the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
