Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
The medical facilities at MHH give many patients hope on the path of their long medical history. The optimal care of our patients requires a high scientific standard and the cooperation of many surgical disciplines.
Our nursing care is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. These principles are our aspiration, orientation and obligation.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as surgical service specialist, nursing management specialist, practice supervisor and mentor) and surgical assistants (OTA).
Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources program. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our department, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee 24-hour care.
At the heart of our operating theatres are state-of-the-art operating theatres that meet the highest standards of hygiene.
We protect our patients from any complications that can be attributed to technical or human carelessness.
Another important goal of our Nursing department is to contribute to efficient surgical procedures. Among other things, this means ensuring that all materials, equipment and instruments are available at all times for planned and emergency operations.
We are responsible for the safety of our patients so that they do not suffer any physical injury during their stay in the operating theater. To ensure this safety standard, we work according to quality guidelines that we have jointly developed and which are an important prerequisite for providing optimal Nursing and treatment.
The range of services in the urological operating theater includes

Our Department emphasizes cross-divisional and cross-departmental teamwork. To this end, we work closely with Gynecology, General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery and Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplant and Vascular Surgery.
Thanks to our specialist knowledge and shared professional tasks, we can guarantee the best possible medical care for patients in the urological operating theater.
Active supervision and guidance of trainees in their day-to-day work introduces them to tasks that they will later take on independently.
We continuously develop our internal departmental standards and write expert tips from Nursing staff for Nursing staff.
The personal development of individual employees is important to us. We promote this through internal and external training and cross-departmental work in all operating theaters at Hannover Medical School.
Task sharing is a high priority in our team. The following areas are personally responsible for this: Quality management, hygiene, risk management, occupational safety, documentation, drawing up expert tips and developing standards, working in accordance with the Medical Devices Act, induction of students and new employees.
We are always involved in the introduction of innovative technology such as MRI-navigated sample biopsies of the prostate.
