Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Our diverse ward team was founded on 01.01.2020 and combines the Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectiology and Endocrinology with the Clinical Department of Pneumology and Infectious Diseases and Endocrinology with a total of 31 beds and an oncological focus.
We are a team of highly motivated registered nurses from different cultures with a wealth of professional experience. Various additional qualifications in the areas of oncology specialist training, wound care, diabetes counseling, palliative care and practice management round off the highly qualified care we always provide to our patients.
Our team also includes service staff who provide us with a great deal of support in everyday ward life.
In the early and late shift, one nurse looks after 8 patients each, while two colleagues are on duty at night to care for the patients.
Our constant interest in improving ward procedures and structures is a matter of course.
Regular nursing consultations, case discussions and nursing rounds are held. We maintain a lively interdisciplinary exchange with all professional groups involved in patient treatment.
In addition to general basic and treatment care, we also provide pre- and post-treatment care for cytostatic therapies.
Therapeutic measures, e.g. transarterial chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation or selective internal radio therapy, are innovative forms of treatment that also expand our range of care.
Various respiratory and oxygen therapies, non-invasive ventilation or high-flow therapy are supported by us.
We work closely with the Bronchoscopy and Endoscopy Departments and carry out pre- and post-operative care for endoscopic examinations and diagnostic procedures. These include bronchoscopy, EBUS, cardiac catheterization, colonoscopy, ERCP, gastroscopy and also stent and drainage systems.
Working around the clock in a 3-shift system, our employees accompany and care for the patients entrusted to them and thus support a positive course of illness by strengthening their own resources and skills. We also achieve this through close cooperation and exchange in a multi-professional network, taking into account the MHH's concept for oncological Nursing.
Specialized oncological care
Planned admission
- Before you come to our ward for admission, please register at the Central Patient Admission Office and ask to be admitted to ward 23.
- You will need your health insurance chip card for admission.
- The central patient admission is located in building K06, main entrance.
- Turn right before the information desk to the patient admission desk. You will receive the necessary documents and information there.
If possible, bring all previous medical reports with you. It is very helpful if you bring your usual home medication with you for the day, so that we can order any special medication from the pharmacy that we do not have in stock on the ward. If you use a sleep apnea device, please also bring this with you.
You will be welcomed to the ward by a colleague in the duty room who will explain the rest of the procedure to you.
Patient room
Our ward has been newly renovated and equipped. We have 5 single rooms, 4 double rooms, 2 three-bed rooms and 3 four-bed rooms.
Each room has a flat-screen TV and each bed is equipped with a telephone. A safe can be used, WLAN use is possible for a small daily fee. Cell phone use is permitted on our ward.
There is also a pleasantly designed patient lounge on the ward. In addition to another television set, hot and cold drinks are available for patients at all times.
Visiting rules
There are corona-related restrictions in the visiting regulations, which can be viewed on the MHH homepage. Visitors with colds and possible infections should generally refrain from visiting.
We would like to draw your attention to special hand hygiene. Please disinfect your hands thoroughly before entering a room; numerous disinfectant dispensers are available.
Daily routine
Part of the daily routine is that we care for our patients in the area care system. Each nurse is responsible for organizing their own work routine according to the needs of the patients and the diagnostic consultations. Please make arrangements with the nurse responsible for you, who will report to you on the respective shift. The ward physicians' rounds take place in the mornings. Once a week, the senior physician makes a ward round.
Food and drink
Meals are delivered in a tray system. You have the option of choosing your meal from various menus unless you have to follow a special diet. Additional requests are taken into account here. Please let the ward assistants or the nurses know your wishes.
- You enter the MHH through the main entrance (building K 06) and continue straight ahead past the information desk to elevator node A.
