Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. It is planned, carried out and evaluated in a patient-oriented manner, taking into account the psychosocial situation. We are responsible for a certain number of patients within the scope of nursing care.
Accommodation is provided in single, double and multi-bed rooms, which are generally allocated according to medical criteria. We are happy to accommodate individual wishes.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as practice supervisors, nursing management, oncological care and palliative care specialists). Participation in internal and external training courses on practice-related topics such as dealing with tracheotomized patients, hygiene guidelines, emergency care and resuscitation is an integral part of our Human Resources. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our ward, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee continuous care by working in a three-shift system in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
The focus of our nursing work lies in the treatment and monitoring before and after procedures in the area of the neck (e.g. parotid glands, laser application and tumor surgery), in the area of the ear / inner ear (e.g. acoustic neuroma), and in the area of the ear / inner ear (e.g. ear surgery).e.g. acoustic neuroma) and in the nose area (e.g. allergies, colds, facial inflammation, midface fractures, nasal / paranasal sinuses, snoring and sleep disorders). Tonsillectomies are performed on adults who have a coagulation disorder as a secondary diagnosis. This also includes the early recognition and treatment of emergency situations or complications. Our needs-oriented, holistic care supports and promotes the patient's individual resources.
In addition to the above-mentioned focal points, we provide care and support for hearing impaired and deaf patients in the field of implantable hearing systems (e.g. cochlear implants) or administer infusion therapies (e.g. tinnitus, sudden deafness).
Our nursing tasks include, among other things
- Guiding patients who have undergone surgery towards independence
- Instruction in handling feeding tubes
- Guidance on independence during tracheostomy and laryngectomy
- Registration and coordination of special diagnostic measures
- Carrying out or assisting with prophylaxis
- Implementation of pain therapy measures

Ward 36 has an ENT post-operative monitoring room, known as HPÜ for short. The beds are set up for monitoring. Patients from ENT wards 36, 46 and 48 who require continuous monitoring after certain surgical procedures are cared for here. As a rule, a nurse is on site during all three shifts from Monday to Friday.
At weekends and on public holidays, Nursing and monitoring takes place on the adjacent intensive care wards 34 and 44 if there is a justified need.
The procedure on the day of admission
You enter the MHH and go to the central patient admission department to be admitted to ward 36. Accompanying persons must also be admitted. You will need the form "Accommodation of accompanying persons" for this purpose. This may be sent to you when you are admitted, but you can also obtain it from the outpatient clinic.
You will then go to the ENT outpatient clinic and register in cubicle 7. The admitting physician will have an initial discussion with you, if necessary a blood sample will be taken and initial diagnostic tests will be carried out.
If your dietary requirements differ from a normal diet, please let the outpatient clinic know in advance so that your menu requirements can be registered with the kitchen in good time and taken into account.
Once you have been admitted to the outpatient clinic, you will be sent to ward 36 with your patient file.
The ward room is located in the central area of the ward, where a nurse will be your contact person. They will accompany you to your room, show you around the ward and explain the further procedures.
In the further course of your stay, various diagnostic examinations or informative discussions will take place. We will inform you when the relevant departments have called you for this. If necessary, we will give you your patient file, which you must always bring back to the duty room.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, it is helpful if you always sign out in the duty room if you wish to leave the ward.
- You enter the MHH through the main entrance (building K6) and walk through the shopping street to elevator node_C.
- There you take the passenger elevator to floor 6.
This will take you directly to our front door.
Please register with the nursing team in the ward room. It is located in the middle part of the ward.
