Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
We treat and care for hearing impaired and deaf patients from the age of 6 months to adulthood.
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. It is planned, carried out and evaluated in a patient-oriented manner, taking into account the psychosocial situation. We are responsible for a certain number of patients within the scope of nursing care.
Accommodation on the ward is provided in single, double and multi-bed rooms, which are generally allocated according to medical criteria. We are happy to accommodate individual wishes. You have the opportunity to use a common room, which is also equipped as a playroom for children.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as practice supervisors, in the field of nursing management and for palliative care). Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources program. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our ward, which ensures a high standard of safety and care for our patients.
We guarantee continuous care by working in a three-shift system in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
The focus of our nursing work lies in the support and care of hearing impaired and deaf patients. Both adults and children from the age of 6 months are admitted and cared for on our ward. Children can be accompanied by an accompanying person. In addition to treatment with infusion therapies for tinnitus or Meníere's disease, special emphasis is placed on implantable hearing systems. Our task before the operation is to coordinate the necessary diagnostics and after the operation to monitor and treat our patients. In addition, tonsillectomies are performed on children who have a coagulation disorder as a secondary diagnosis.
This also includes the early recognition and treatment of emergency situations or complications. Our needs-oriented, holistic care supports and promotes the patient's individual resources.
Our nursing tasks include, among other things
- Registration and coordination of special diagnostic measures
- Carrying out or assisting with prophylaxis
- Carrying out pain therapy measures
- Assistance with or taking over personal hygiene

The procedure on the day of admission
You enter the MHH and go to the central patient admission department to be admitted to ward 46. Accompanying persons must also be admitted. You will need the form "Accommodation of accompanying persons" for this purpose. This may be sent to you when you are admitted, but you can also obtain it from the outpatient clinic.
You will then go to the ENT outpatient clinic and register in cubicle 7. The admitting physician will have an initial discussion with you, if necessary a blood sample will be taken and initial diagnostic tests will be carried out.
If your dietary requirements differ from a normal diet, please let the outpatient clinic know in advance so that your menu requirements can be registered with the kitchen in good time and taken into account.
Once you have been admitted to the outpatient clinic, you will be sent to ward 46 with your patient file.
The ward room is located in the middle of the ward, where a nurse will be your contact person. They will accompany you to your room, show you around the ward and explain the further procedures. You can also read this again at your leisure on a notice in each patient room.
In the further course of your stay, various diagnostic examinations or informative discussions will take place. We will inform you when the relevant departments have called you for this. If necessary, we will give you your patient file, which you must always bring back to the duty room.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, it is helpful if you always sign out in the duty room if you wish to leave the ward.
- You enter the MHH through the main entrance (building K6) and walk through the shopping street to elevator node_C.
- There you take the passenger elevator to floor 6.
This will take you directly to our front door.
The door can be opened with an automatic door opener on the right-hand side of the wall in front of the ward door. Please register with the nursing team in the ward room. It is located in the middle area of the ward.
