Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Ward 50b is a general psychiatric ward that is run on a sheltered basis and is part of the "Center for Mental Health".
Treatment is primarily based on diagnostics, discussion and group therapy with different focuses, body therapy and drug therapy.
The nursing team is made up of full-time and part-time registered nurses, most of whom have specialist training in social psychiatry. We work a three-shift system and have an on-call service for emergencies.
We ensure the quality of our nursing care through targeted participation in further and advanced training events and inter-ward working groups. Our work is based on the nursing guidelines, the MHH mission statement and the MHH nursing concept.
By working in a multi-professional team consisting of nurses, physicians, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, as well as trainees and students, we guarantee you holistic care.
All of the ward's employees work subject to reference care. This means that Nursing staff act as reference therapists or contact persons with regard to problems, planning therapy steps and setting goals during your inpatient stay.
Our patients are accommodated in single, double and multi-bed rooms. The ward also has its own patient kitchen.
The treatment pathway for each individual patient is determined jointly by the reference therapist and the medical service. As reference therapists, we work closely with the attending physician and, if possible, take part in medical, family or couples' meetings. We coordinate, accompany, advise and guide patients, supporting them in a professional and competent manner, even in difficult situations. We describe structures and rules to ensure that the interaction between many people is positive for everyone. Through our continuous presence, we offer orientation to the patient group. In everyday interaction, on the other hand, patients find essential impulses to orient themselves towards normality.
In crisis situations, we ensure the necessary safety measures and at the same time strive to maintain a therapeutic relationship.
The main tasks are
- Coping with the acute phases of psychosis, schizoaffective disorders, depression up to and including
- Transfer to an openly managed general psychiatric ward
- Coping with crises in the context of personality disorders
- Stabilization and preparation for further treatment on a therapy ward
- Treatment of patients under the age of 60 who, due to special risk situations
- in accordance with the NPsychKG (Lower Saxony Act on Assistance and Protective Measures for the Mentally Ill)
- or within the framework of guardianship law require secure/protected treatment.
The primary goals of our work are
- Overcoming the psychiatric and otherwise motivated crisis
- The patient feels stabilized; recognizes the need for further treatment measures if necessary and is anxious to make use of further offers of help
- The patient's social situation has been clarified and ideally secured.
- The social framework achieved enables the patient to face further measures from a stable situation and, if necessary, to complete rehabilitative measures.
- In the event of chronification, a satisfactory lifestyle can be achieved and a deterioration in the patient's condition is prevented by implementing stabilizing and protective measures.
As we are a group psychotherapy ward, please note that visiting hours on weekdays are only possible between 16:00 and 21:00. On Saturdays and on Sundays and public holidays, however, our patients can receive visitors from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
We are available for discussions with relatives. Please make an appointment with us for this purpose.
Individual arrangements are made with each patient on admission. This arrangement also applies when the ward door is "open". During therapy times, short exits within the MHH grounds are possible. However, patients should not leave the MHH grounds without medical permission. This could lead to conflicts with the health insurance company in the event of an accident.
Washing machines and dryers are available daily at set times. Please contact us if you need them.
Smoking is only permitted outside the ward in the designated areas.
Cell phones, cameras, photo and internet-enabled devices must be left in the ward room.
Our feedback form gives you the opportunity to give us re-registration about your stay and the treatment you have received before you are discharged. We are grateful for all your suggestions and ideas for improvement.
- You enter the MHH through the main entrance (building K6) and walk through the shopping street to the "Center for Mental Health" entrance.
