Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Ward 52 has 12 therapy places and is located in the "Center for Mental Health".
Treatment is based on the concept of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) by Marsha Linehan. DBT is a behavioral therapy that was developed specifically for people with emotionally unstable personality disorder, also known as borderline personality disorder. Characteristic of this disorder are, for example, pronounced mood swings, states of tension that are difficult to tolerate, a feeling of inner emptiness, self-harming and suicidal behavior, as well as recurring difficulties in interpersonal relationships.
Most of our registered nurses have completed additional training in social psychiatry and have undergone further training as DBT co-therapists.
We ensure the quality of our nursing care through targeted participation in further and advanced training events and inter-ward working groups. Our work is based on the nursing guidelines, the MHH mission statement and the MHH nursing concept.
Our patients are accommodated in comfortably furnished twin rooms, which have their own toilet and bathroom. Ward 52 also has three consultation rooms and a common room with a television.
Ward 52 works according to the concept of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) by Marsha Linehan described above. Group work and individual discussions with the respective reference therapists are important components of this therapeutic approach.
The aim of our work is to improve our patients' quality of life by, among other things
- Reducing self-harming and suicidal behavior
- Learning and practicing new solution strategies
- Promoting self-esteem
- Training mindfulness
The group sessions focus on different areas in order to promote resources and develop new skills. The therapy plan includes skills and mindfulness groups, occupational therapy and psychoeducation.
Comprehensive care is provided by a multi-professional team consisting of registered nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, physiotherapists, physicians and psychologists. Binding agreements and clear rules are important to us, as they create trust but also provide security and orientation. The basis and prerequisite for DBT is therefore our treatment contract.
Admission is generally planned via our waiting list.
For treatment on our ward, a preliminary consultation is necessary in which we would like to get to know you and your problems and goals and also give you the opportunity to find out more about the treatment we offer. You will also receive the current treatment plan and extracts from the treatment contract. Please ask us personally (not through your caregiver, parents, etc.) for the next appointment. You can contact us by telephone for this purpose.
If, after the preliminary meeting, you and we have the impression that you could benefit from DBT, you will be placed on the waiting list. We will call you as soon as a therapy place becomes available for you. Please note that it can take several months from the preliminary consultation to the appointment.
A prerequisite for admission to our ward 52 is that acute psychiatric stays and withdrawal treatments must be completed at least two weeks before your admission.
The duration of the inpatient stay is agreed individually. It is usually eight to twelve weeks.
Meals are taken on the ward together with the other patients in the dining room. You have the opportunity to choose your own meals each week from a menu plan. If you have any requests for additions or changes, please contact the nursing staff. Ward 52 also has a patient kitchen that you can use.
As we are a group psychotherapy ward, please note that visiting hours on weekdays are only possible between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays , however, our patients can receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. During the course of treatment, there is the possibility of a stress test in the home environment in consultation with the medical service.
- You enter the MHH through the main entrance (building K6) and walk through the shopping street to the "Center for Mental Health" entrance.
