Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
We treat and nurture children and adolescents with kidney diseases (including dialysis), metabolic and neurological diseases as well as before and after kidney transplantation. Our ward offers its young patients and their relatives a wide range of support services. Please feel free to contact us.
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. It is planned, carried out and evaluated in a patient-oriented manner, taking into account the psychosocial situation. We are responsible for a certain number of patients within the scope of departmental nursing.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as practice supervisors, transplant nursing specialists and specialists for management tasks in nursing). Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources. There are also regular team meetings and in-patient training sessions. New employees are introduced to their tasks according to an induction concept developed by the ward, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee continuous care by working in a three-shift system in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
The ward has two-bed and four-bed rooms. Allocation is based exclusively on medical criteria.

You arrive with your child for a planned inpatient admission
You enter the MHH Children's Hospital through the main entrance (building K10) and report to the porter, who will direct you to the admission area. Go through the waiting area to the ward and keep to the right, turn left at the radiology department and take the elevator to level 2. Please report to the nursing staff at the nursing support point.
To help you find your way around, you will receive a flyer with important telephone numbers and detailed information about everyday life on the ward when you are admitted.
In order to prevent our immunocompromised patients from coming into contact with children's illnesses, visiting children under the age of 14 are only admitted to the ward by prior arrangement.
You and your child have been called in for a transplant at short notice
Please report to the porter at the pediatric clinic. The admissions department will be informed of your arrival and will send you to ward 61b without delay, where we will be waiting for you. Please accompany your child with 2 people if possible. As the electronic recording of all your child's data is a mandatory prerequisite for all further measures, an accompanying person can remain in the admissions department and enter the patient data as quickly as possible.
