Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Our ward was completely refurbished in 2020 and has several services to support our young patients and their relatives during their stay. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Further information can be found under the following menu items.
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. It is planned, carried out and evaluated in a patient-oriented manner, taking into account the psychosocial situation. We are responsible for a certain number of patients within the scope of departmental nursing.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications). Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources. We also hold regular team meetings and internal ward training sessions. New employees are introduced to their tasks according to an induction concept developed by the ward, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee continuous care by working in a three-shift system in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
As part of the holistic care of our young patients, we work closely with the following professional groups:
- the bridge team
- physiotherapy and occupational therapy
- breastfeeding counseling
- nutritional counseling and dieticians,
- stoma therapy.
Our task is the Nursing and monitoring of patients:
- with lung diseases - cystic fibrosis, asthma, etc.
- before and after lung transplants
- with diabetes
- with immunodeficiencies
- before and after diagnostic procedures
We instruct patients and their parents in special Nursing for home care.
All patient rooms are equipped with a bathroom and television. Patients are accommodated in twin rooms.
Despite the limited space available, we allow one accompanying person to be admitted to the inpatient area or externally if desired. If there is a medical indication, the costs for accommodation and meals are covered by the health insurance company.
At lunchtime, you will eat in the Canteen and receive a packed lunch for dinner and breakfast. Accompanying persons without a medical indication can eat in the Canteen at their own expense.
In our playroom, children will find plenty to do, as well as a television and PC. Children can also be supervised in the play oasis. For longer stays, school-age children can receive lessons in bed or in the hospital school on request.
On the day of admission, you register your child at the pediatric clinic's patient admission desk. You then come directly to the ward and report to us at the nursing support point (ward room).
The day of admission is filled with many examinations and consultations, which may result in longer waiting times. Informed consent interviews for examinations, procedures and anaesthesia do not take place until the afternoon. Please allow sufficient time for this.
- You enter the MHH Children's Hospital (building K10) at the porter's lodge and go through the waiting hall to the right-hand door.
- Behind the glass door, take the corridor to the end of the hallway and then turn left to the elevator.
- Take the elevator to level 1.
- Station 63 is located directly opposite the elevator.
Please enter the ward without ringing the bell and report to us at the nursing support point.
