Results of the MHH Human Medicine graduate survey in the 2024/25 academic year

Figure 1: Satisfaction with studies and career of MHH medical graduates (categories "very satisfied" and "satisfied")

This academic year, the annual survey of Human medicine graduates was also conducted between December 2024 and March 2025. Of the 261 graduates from the 2022/23 graduating class, 94 took part in the survey, meaning that 36% (previous year: 35%) took part. Questions were asked in the areas of study progression and conditions, doctoral studies, employment situation and professional satisfaction. Some selected results are presented below.

Assessment of the degree course

In retrospect, 74% of respondents are very satisfied or satisfied with their medical studies at the MHH (see Figure 1). 76% state that they would (very) likely choose to study medicine and the MHH again.

With regard to specific study conditions, a very large majority of graduates have positive memories of contact with fellow students. In addition to this social aspect, the organization of examinations and studies as well as teaching methods also scored well. On the other hand, the courses on academic and personal skills were rated particularly poorly (see Table 1).

Employment and income

A large majority of 95% of graduates are employed in healthcare at the time of the survey. 87% of all employees state that they have a fixed-term employment contract. The burden of overtime is high: the median contractual weekly working time of 40 hours compares to an actual weekly working time of 50 hours. At 10 hours, the median target/actual difference is higher than in previous years, when this value averaged 7 hours. The median gross monthly income is €5,609. Overall, 64% are very satisfied or satisfied with their current employment (see Fig. 1).

The survey of the graduating class of 2023/24 is expected to take place in November 2025.
