Dr. med. Stefanie Wehnert - Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Wehnert studied Human Medicine at Hannover Medical School (MHH) with stays abroad in Canada and Austria. She completed her doctorate with an experimental thesis on the influence of genetic polymorphisms on therapy response in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

She completed her specialist training in pediatrics and adolescent medicine at the Children's Hospital of the MHH, the University Children's Hospital Lübeck and the University Children's Hospital Bonn. She completed her specialist training in 2008.

Dr. Wehnert returned to the Clinical Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the MHH to acquire the specialist qualification in paediatric haematology and oncology and received comprehensive further training in inpatient and outpatient paediatric haematological and oncological acute care as well as in follow-up care.

In addition to her specialization in paediatric haematology and oncology, she has also acquired additional qualifications in special pain therapy and palliative medicine.

Dr. Wehnert works in the outpatient medical care of children and adolescents with hematological and oncological diseases. She works in the Clinical Department's multi-professional bridging and palliative care team to enable oncological patients with incurable progressive diseases and complex care needs to receive care at home via the specialized outpatient palliative care for children and adolescents (SAPV-KJ). Dr. Wehnert is also active in the oncological aftercare outpatient clinic. She is also committed to qualified pain therapy for children and adolescents.

Dr. Wehnert is a member of the Society for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology (GPOH), the German Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ), the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP) and the German Pain Society.
