Third attempt: MHH spring concert with the girls' choir
Supporters of the Förderstiftung MHH plus and the Gesellschaft der Freunde der MHH e.V. had to wait three years for the Mädchenchor Hannover, but on April 28, 2022, the concert, which had been postponed several times due to the pandemic, was rescheduled in front of almost 300 guests in Lecture Hall F at Hannover Medical School.
On the last Thursday in April this year, the time had come: Professor Christian Pfeiffer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the MHH plus Foundation, and Professor Siegfried Piepenbrock, Chairman of the Society of Friends of the MHH, deliberately kept their welcome brief so as not to get in the way of enjoying the music. Then the more than 30 girls in the choir were finally able to show that it had definitely been worth the wait.
The singers mastered classical pieces by Brahms, Schumann and Mahler with impressive precision as well as the livelier arrangements of contemporary titles such as "Come alive" and "Go the distance". The joy of the music was written all over their faces and was quickly transferred to the audience. By the time the girls in their black outfits and red blazers started swinging along and snapping their fingers, the rhythm had gripped even the last member of the audience. The girls had to give two encores and the audience wouldn't let them go any sooner.
When Dr. Eckhard Schenke said goodbye, it was clear that the wait had been worth it for him too. "You couldn't wish for a better thank you to the members and donors of two of MHH's most important funding institutions. I am glad that we can give back in this way a little of what our supporters achieve with their commitment to the MHH. And, of course, we now have to think carefully about which artist to invite to next year's concert, because the Mädchenchor Hannover has undoubtedly set the bar very high."
